Zuyderland and Pacmed to start AI platform implementation in Q4 2025
Zuyderland Medical Center will begin implementing Pacmed Glance in the fourth quarter of 2025, building a scalable AI platform that supports the acute care chain and healthcare professionals in departments within it for capacity planning, logistics, and clinical decision-making. The collaboration follows a successful AI Readiness Scan and marks an important step in healthcare’s digital transformation, where scalable and responsible AI solutions play an increasingly central role.
Urgency in de region
Zuyderland is one of the first hospitals in the Netherlands to experience firsthand how aging populations and staff shortages are putting pressure on access to acute care. Board Chair Esther Talboom-Kamp emphasized in Zorgvisie that this urgency calls for smart, future-proof solutions: “We want to automate what we can automate.”
AI Readiness Scan as a foundation
The collaboration with Pacmed began at the end of 2024 with an AI Readiness Scan: a rapid, organization-wide analysis of Zuyderland’s readiness for AI. The scan revealed, among other things:
- Broad support among healthcare providers
- A mature data, cloud, and AI strategy
- The organization is ready to responsibly deploy AI based on patient data
The scan serves as a starting point for implementation and a concrete guide for Zuyderland, which aims to gradually achieve future-proof use of medical AI.
Pacmed Glance: scalable AI for the entire hospital
With Pacmed Glance, Zuyderland opts for a modular and scalable AI platform that can be deployed hospital-wide. The first applications focus on:
- Capacity planning
- ICU utilization
- Patient flow
Glance combines real-time patient data with historical trends and AI predictions to support healthcare professionals in both operational and clinical decisions.
“One of the reasons for choosing Pacmed is that their product is scalable,” says Talboom. “Their software is now mainly focused on the ICU, but they are already working on scaling it to other hospital departments. In addition, they conduct scientific research themselves, have a solid product, and truly embrace co-creation. They really do it together with us.”
From vision to reality
Since this interview, Pacmed’s vision for the hospital’s acute care chain has become concrete. During our anniversary event Pacmed 10Y in September 2025, we will present how, together with hospitals like Zuyderland, we are building scalable and practical AI solutions for the entire acute care chain.

Implementation starts in Q4
In the fourth quarter of 2025, the actual implementation of Pacmed Glance will begin. Zuyderland will thus become the first hospital outside the Santeon group to deploy the platform. The implementation focuses on collaboration with departments and professionals, aiming for broad scaling and integration into daily practice.
“Zuyderland shows that you can be ambitious and realistic in healthcare’s digital transformation. Thanks to their vision and strong internal foundation, we can accelerate scaling together with AI that truly fits clinical practice.”
